Peruvian Ships
Peru offers the widest range of Amazon Ships with 7 different options from the ultra luxurious 5* Aqua Nera to the 3* La Perla with a range of itineraries from 4 to 8 days long. All of these ships are small enough to explore the many tributaries in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve in north eastern Peru. These Peruvian ships range from 8 to 40 passengers total and all options include meals, daily explorations and return transport from the Iquitos airport.
Ecuadorian Ships
Ecuadorian ShipsEcuador offers two ships, both run by the same operator and are excellent value for travellers and explore the Yasuni National Park. This was designated by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve in 1989 due to the vast range of animal and plant species. The 4* Anakonda and the 3* Manatee provide a range of itineraries from 4 to 8 days in length.
Brazilian Ships
Brazil, while having the largest share of the Amazon River, doesn’t have as many quality ships available as Peru. The port city of Manaus is harder to access and the river is much wider and not as popular for cruising. That being said, there are a few options ranging from 2 to 8 nights that are great for travellers who are already exploring other areas of Brazil. The ships available are in the basic 3* to 4* range simple yet comfortable.
