Polar Circle

Crossing the Antarctic Polar Circle is a milestone few ever achieve. An expedition cruise to the Polar Circle will take travelers south of the Equator to 66°33 approximately (the circle is perpetually changing). The Polar Circle is the northernmost latitude in the southern hemisphere and experiences a period of 24 hours where the Sun is above the horizon during the summer solstice on 21st December. The reason for this phenomenon is that the axis of the earth is tilted by 23.5 degrees.
